Megan has been involved in Scouting for over 25 years in various different positions. She started as a Kea in Nelson, ending up in different sections and groups in South Australia, Auckland, Wellington before settling in Christchurch in 2015 where she is currently a Kea Leader.
One of her most unforgettable Scouting memories would be running the Challenge Valley for the 2013/2014 Fielding Jamboree where her team made it into a Pirate base and blasted Pirate music alongside 'Roar' by Katy Perry non-stop for ten days.
She is excited to spend the next few years preparing our contingent, helping create unforgettable adventures for our rangatahi, and embodying the theme of the Jamboree—Bravely.
Sonia joined Scouts Aotearoa in 2018, when her son started Keas. Prior to this, Sonia was a member of Girl Guides, where she obtained her Queens Guide Award. Both of her son’s are moving on from Keas, but she has continued being a Kea leader, as well as various roles in the zone.
Sonia and her family have recently moved from Matamata to Hastings for Sonia’s work as an Accountant. Here, she is excited to continue her journey with a new scout group and to explore the new surroundings with her family and dogs.
She has just returned home from AJAM, where she assisted the NZ CMT. With temperatures over 35 degrees, she is glad to be back to the cooler summer of NZ and excited to start working towards getting everyone to the next World Scout Jamboree in Poland!
Morgan has been involved in Scouts since he was seven in the Wairarapa. University brought him to Wellington where he was a Rover and Venturer leader, before eventually moving to Christchurch. He is currently on the Board of Scouts Aotearoa, and assists at various Regional, National, and International scouting events (including the most recent WSJ in South Korea)
His favourite part of the previous WSJ experience was seeing our youth grow their confidence, build connections, and gain independence. Outside of Scouts Morgan is a Software Engineer, and likes to get outdoors wherever possible!
Ash joined Scouts Aotearoa in 2014 as a Scout, after having been involved in Girl Guides since 2007. Since then, she has travelled to 15 different countries, eight of which were through Scouts, including the most recent World Scout Jamboree in South Korea.
She is based in Auckland because she has a massive passion for bad drivers, unfinished roadworks, and has always wanted to experience the feeling of having a mortgage that she can never pay off.
Outside of Scouting, Ash has a Bachelor of Visual Arts, majoring in Photographic Lens Practices, aka, a Bachelor of the struggling artist. (This helps with her dream of never knowing what it will be like to pay off a mortgage).
Ross joined Scouts Aotearoa as a Kea and progressed through each of the sections. He’s been involved with the Venturer section for a long time, including being a Venturer Kaiārahi in Wellington currently, supporting Venturers at the NZ Jamboree 2019/20, and running the Lower North Island Venturer Training Weekend.
He has enjoyed the opportunity to attend several Asia-Pacific and World scouting events, and being a participant at the World Scout Moot is one of his favourite experiences. Ross was also a Deputy Contingent Leader for the last World Scout Jamboree in 2023.
Interacting with the youth and seeing them have incredible experiences was so rewarding, he’s signed up for the CMT again! He’s excited for a new challenge, this time supporting everyone to have the best time at an extraordinary international opportunity. He’s also hoping to not be planning a big international trip during a global pandemic this time!
